Princess Alia bint Hussein is one of the most popular and richest Jordanian Princess who was born on February 13, 1956 in Amman, Amman Governorate, Jordan. Since 1987, Princess Alia holds a 2 Dan Black Belt Taekwondo. She enjoys horse breeding, judging Arabian horses, stamp collecting, and general sports. Equestrianism is a family passion. Princess Alia’s half-sister, Princess Haya bint Hussein is the former president and member of the International Federation for Equestrian Sports.
Princess Alia was a registrar and artist at the British School of Archaeology, under Crystal Benett OBE. She has been a member of Fakherelnissa Zeid’s Artist Group since the 1980s. As director of the Royal Stables of Jordan for the Conservation of the Arabian Horses in 1988, Princess Alia organized the Middle East Championships for Purebred Horses. The Princess Alia Foundation is a non-profit, nongovernmental organization that she founded. It is located under the Ministry of Social Development of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Its motto is “Respect and compassion towards creation”. She was the 2011 World Arabian Horse Organization (WAHO), keynote speaker. Her speech, “The Relationship between Horses and Humans In Today’s World,” was a clear example of the parallels between animal welfare rights and human rights.
Princess Alia married Lieutenant-Colonel Nasser Wasfi Mirza (b. 1945), on 12 April 1977 at Raghadan Palace. They had one son.
